Sourcing Investment Castings for the US Market
US buyers sourcing investment castings overseas need a technical package and supply plan that can be compared consistently. The country of the supplier does not replace clear requirements for material, inspection, documentation and delivery.
Hengke Casting operates under ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality systems and supports applicable BV, DNV and PED documentation requirements for customer projects.
Use controlled drawings and standards
Provide an English drawing with revision level, units, datums and critical characteristics. State the applicable ASTM, SAE or customer material specification and whether an equivalent grade is permitted. Include heat treatment, hardness and mechanical-property requirements.
Define qualification evidence
First-article inspection, PPAP elements, material certificates, capability studies or third-party testing should be agreed before quotation. Not every industrial casting needs automotive PPAP, but the supplier must know the required submission level before building the sample schedule.
Plan machining and testing as one route
Mark machined features and inspection datums on the drawing. For pressure-containing parts, define the test medium, pressure, hold time and leakage limit. For safety-critical components, state nondestructive testing scope and acceptance criteria rather than requesting an undefined “full inspection.”
Logistics for the United States
Clarify Incoterms, destination, packaging, labeling and whether sea or air freight is planned. Rust prevention and packaging must suit the alloy, surface finish and transit time. Buyers should also confirm customs classification and import responsibilities with their own logistics adviser.
Production readiness questions
- Has the supplier frozen the approved drawing revision?
- Are tooling, gauges and CNC fixtures included?
- What is the sample and production lead time?
- How are material heats and lots identified?
- Who approves deviations before shipment?
Hengke manufactures in Dongying, China and ships exports through ports including Qingdao. US buyers can submit drawings for a documented feasibility and quotation review.
